The Smart Home at the Museum of Science and Industry is the Greenest Home in Chicago! It is open to the public until January 8, 2012.

The Smart Home was designed by the Museum in collaboration with Andersonville's Scout. The industrial and Chicago themed art throughout the home was custom framed, as seen in these photos, by Foursided.

I made some Men and Women bathroom signs from some cool plastic marquee letters I had lyin' around. I mounted them on a cool espresso suede. They sit on a table or hang on a wall. One of our new card favorites are these "stamp" note cards. Comes with a real art stamp sealed in a clear sleeve on the front of the card. $10 from Johnathan Wright Cards. You may say, "Wow that's kinda expensive". When you see them you will understand. Letter press and very hand made. Not the kind of thing you'll be seeing at Walgreens anytime soon, which is fine with us.

Our Favorite Frames

As many of you know, Foursided has a deep appreciation for beautifully hand crafted frames from yesteryear. In this post we bring you an impeccable hand crafted picture frame design made in the present.
These frames could be characterized as "mission", "arts and crafts", "prairie", or "adirondeck". The name "mission" was inspired by Joseph McHugh, a New York furniture maker and retailer, to describe his straight line rustic style furniture. His design was based on a chair that had been made for a church in San Francisco around 1894. The designs were influenced by the Spanish missions of the area, thus the term "mission style". "Arts and Crafts" was the European design name for a similar style. Other "similar" regional styles include "Prairie" from the Midwest and "Adirondeck" from Upstate New York.

We hope you enjoy these frames as much as we do.

We are super excited about carrying this line, partly because we like to support local Chicago companies, but mostly because their cards are so darn cute! Both Twosided and Foursided have an array of card styles, ranging from witty thank you notes: "Shanks. We like a fresh start here at Twosided just as much as anyone, and with the new year in full swing we decided the out with the old, in with the new attitude applied to our southern wall as well as our resolutions. Gone are the cardboard birdhouses, but they are far from forgotten; in fact, if you spend $30 or more we will give you one for free!

Our new wall decor displays some of our favorite charts, art, and game boards along with a new stash of amazing hand-painted coats of arms - the theme being, of course, stuff we love!
